Milena Milosavljević is an artist born in 1986 in Novi Pazar, Serbia. She first studied painting at the Faculty of Free Arts (FLU) in Belgrade (2005–2010), then continued her training at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts under the guidance of Richard Deacon (2011–2015) and Franka Hörnschemeyer (2016–2018), earning a master's degree.
Since the beginning of her career, Milena has been actively involved in the international art scene. Her works have been exhibited at significant exhibitions and festivals, such as Die Grosse NRW at the Kunstpalast Museum in Düsseldorf (2012, 2017, 2023), the Danube Dialogues contemporary art festival in Novi Sad (2020), and the Art Rotterdam fair (2018). The artist has participated in international residencies and projects, including a multidisciplinary residency in Montepulciano, Italy (2019), a conceptual art residency in Serbia (2017), and an art residency at Steps Gallery in Tokyo, Japan (2014).
Milena’s solo exhibition practice includes a series of notable projects in various countries: “No Pills, just Pillows” at Novembar Gallery in Belgrade (2021), “LOST IN SWARM” at Roehrs & Bœtsch Gallery in Zurich (2018), “DO BUMERANGS ALWAYS COME BACK?” at Castel Aud-Rekem, Belgium (2016), and “The rest of...” at Steps Gallery in Tokyo (2013/2014), as well as individual works shown at Krings-Ernst Gallery in Cologne (2023).
Milena Milosavljević works across various media, creating paintings, sculptures, installations, and prints. Her art focuses on materiality, exploring the relationship between virtual and real, and giving physical form to ephemeral themes such as online communication.
