Hello, my name is Slava Ptrk. I am a street artist from Yekaterinburg with a background in journalism.
I usually work with the social and political reality around me, responding to the challenges of the time and the world I live in. I aim to make my work precise, concise, understandable, sharp, and relevant to the moment, fitting into the physical and informational context of the place where it is created. I enjoy involving people in my projects making them participants and co-authors. Participation, interactivity and accessibility to a wide audience are important aspects of my work.
Irony is my main tool. I try to highlight the absurdity happening around us and the absurdity of the surrounding reality. This is both a theme and a source of inspiration for me, as well as a platform for new works. The specific tools, genres, and techniques are not as important — they can be drawings, installations, performances or simply posts on social media. I started with stencils and posters, gradually expanding my arsenal by adding genre after genre.
In my portfolio you can find both monumental murals (“Here and Now,” “Good Harvest”) and situational actions (“Dirtburg,” “Fuck it, Let's Dance”). Sometimes I like to integrate my works into the city's context (series “White Series,” “Loneliness”), and other times I adapt the surrounding context to my needs (drawings on stairs, series “Tenderness”). I'm not confined to one technique and I love to move forward and experiment, finding the right form for each new idea.
